Engaging the Community to Meet the Needs of Families.
Safe Families for Children strives to keep children safe and families together. A community rooted in faith, fueled by radical hospitality & disruptive generosity, we partner with volunteers to build a caring, compassionate network to support and stabilize families.
Mission
Founded in 2003, Safe Families for Children surrounds families in crisis with caring, compassionate community. We are a volunteer-driven initiative that provides hope and support to families in our local communities.
Safe Families was brought to Lane County in 2015, clearly fitting into CAFA’s mission to “make a safer place for children.” Over the last decade we have consistently served families in all ages and stages, navigated the COVID crisis, and expanded our reach to host unhoused youth, primarily ages 15-22.
History
The Three Objectives of Safe Families for Children are:
Keep children safe during a family crisis such as homelessness, hospitalization, or domestic violence in an effort to prevent child abuse and/or neglect.
Support, and stabilize families and youth in crisis by surrounding them with caring, compassionate community.
Reunite families and reduce the number of children entering the child welfare system.
